Day 1 – Lismore/Gold Coast/Brisbane to Louth NSW

• Depart the east coast early in the morning, cross the Great Dividing Range and head west towards Bourke NSW.
• After morning tea at Bourke we continue at low altitude down the Darling River to Louth NSW.
• After landing at Louth we will have lunch at Shindys Inn on the banks of the Darling River
• After lunch we will be heading for Trilby Station, where our host Liz Murray will give us a walking tour of her family property followed by afternoon tea and then a homemade meal around the fire. That afternoon and the next morning, there will be time to canoe, fish or catch yabbies in the Darling River, and walk along the river walking trails at Trilby.

Day 2 – Louth NSW to Arkaroola SA

• After breakfast at Trilby, we will continue at low altitude down the Darling River to Wilcannia, before heading west for Broken Hill
• After landing at Broken Hill, we will have morning tea and visit the Broken Hill RFDS Base
• We’ll then continue west across the NSW-SA border to the Flinders Ranges, overflying the magnificent Wilpena Pound before flying north along these stunning ranges to Arkaroola
• After landing at Arkaroola, we will have lunch before heading out on their famous Ridge Top Tour for the afternoon.
• On return we will have dinner, and then those with an interest in astronomy can head up to the observatory for an evening of fascinating astronomy.

Day 3 – Arkaroola SA to Birdsville QLD

• After breakfast at Arkaroola we will head west to Leigh Creek for fuel, before heading northwest towards the remote settlement of Maree.
• We’ll find the iconic Maree Man, before heading west to overfly the incredible Painted Hills. We’ll then head for William Creek for lunch at the famous William Creek Hotel.
• After lunch we’ll head east to Lake Eyre North, overflying this magnificent inland sea (fingers crossed for water this year!) before following the Warburton River at low altitude, over the Goyder Lagoon, to Birdsville, QLD.
• After settling into our accommodation at the Birdsville Hotel, we will enjoy a sunset Big Red tour, followed by dinner back at the hotel.

Day 4 – Birdsville to Home

• After breakfast at Birdsville, we will head south west to the Burke & Wills Dig Tree. We will have morning tea here on the banks of the Cooper Creek.
• We will then head east over the beautiful Channel Country to the remote Noccundra Hotel for a pub lunch.
• On leaving Noccundra we will then stop at Cunnamulla for fuel before heading back to the east coast for an evening arrival.
