Byron Bay Scenic & Whale Watching Flights

We are very fortunate to be based in one of the most scenic areas of Australia, depending on the time of year, we are often lucky enough to spot whales heading up or down the coast. While we can’t guarantee their attendance on every flight, we are fortunate to be based in one of the best whale watching areas on the east coast. In spring they often have their offspring in tow – a spectacular sight!

Please note that we treasure the presence of these gentle giants and if we are fortunate enough to come across them on our scenic flights, to avoid disturbing them, we adhere strictly to the Australian National Guidelines for Whale and Dolphin Watching 2005. These guidelines outline national standards for the observation of whales by aircraft.

Please note that the prices below are for the whole aeroplane, not per person. The cost per person depends on the number of people that you bring along on the flight – the more people (up to a maximum of 5, weight limits permitting) the less the cost per person!

Cape Byron & the Byron Hinterland

We depart Lismore to the north east, overflying the spectacular Minyon Falls, and then track for Byron Bay. We pass Julian Rocks, fly round the Cape and then overfly Bangalow and Clunes on return to Lismore.

Byron Hinterland & Ballina/Byron Coast

We depart Lismore to the north east, overfly Minyon Falls and then head for Byron Bay. We round the Cape and then follow the coast southbound at 500 feet, past Broken Head & Lennox Head to Ballina. We then turn westbound and overfly Alstonville on return to Lismore.

Tweed, Byron & Ballina Coasts & Hinterlands

We depart Lismore and track north, flying past Nimbin Rocks, Nimbin & Blue Knob to the Border Ranges & Mt Warning. We fly around the northern side of Mt Warning and then track east, overflying Murwillumbah to Hastings Point. We then track south along the coast to Brunswick Heads, before heading inland over Mullumbimby to Minyon Falls. After flying over Minyon Falls we then turn back to the east and head for Cape Byron. We fly around Cape Byron and then track southbound down the coast at 500 feet, past Broken Head & Lennox Head to Ballina. We then turn westbound and overfly Alstonville on return to Lismore.

Northern Rivers & Gold Coast

We depart Lismore northbound, fly over Nimbin and past Nimbin Rocks to the western side of Mt Warning. We then fly around the Border Ranges & Mt Warning and then north over Springbrook to the Gold Coast. We track to the Broadwater and The Spit, and then follow the beach southbound at 500 feet past Surfers Paradise, Coolangatta (depending on Air Traffic Control clearances), the Tweed Coast, Cape Byron & Lennox Head to Ballina. We then turn westbound and overfly Alstonville on return to Lismore.
